This will hurt :) Things to note: * F#m is exactly the same as Em, but moved up 2 frets, and you use your first finger to barre across at the second fret. You can therefore extend this and work out other chords dead easily. For example, to play C#, play an A shape (by barreing with your little finger) with your first finger on the 4th fret and your little finger barring the D,G and B strings on the 6th fret. Barre chords based on E, Em, A and Am are the most commonly used. * It's usually easy enough to find the variations on these chords (eg, 7, M7, sus2, sus4, add9, etc) by altering the position of one finger - work out what notes each finger is actually playing and then adjust as necessary. * Christian stuff is usually in E or G. If it's in G, the chances are it'll be using Cadd9 rather than C, maybe a Dsus4 rather than D and probably an Em with the B and top E strings fretted at the third fret (like on the Cadd9, G or Dsus4). If it's in E then it'll tend to use open type chords which I'll teach you about later. * It will hurt when you first start to play the guitar. This is normal and to be expected :) The pain won't go away, as such, but you'll strengthen your fingers and build up nice callouses so that you feel it less ;) * There's a lot here. I probably haven't explained all of it totally clearly 'cos it's 1:30am and I'm tired, so feel free to ask questions.
